Une troupe de vagabonds tente de mettre en scène une comédie. Mais rien ne fonctionne. Le théâtre est introuvable. Les acteurs ne viennent pas. C’est un spectacle de variétés du siècle dernier. Une comédie de malentendus d’il y a deux siècles ou une histoire vieille de plus de deux mille ans. Quoi qu’il en soit, la question est toujours la même : qu’est-ce que la vérité ? Qu’est-ce qui est faux ? Les genres se confondent : comédie ou histoire d’espionnage ? Drame sentimental ou comédie musicale ? Farce ou tragédie ? Les théâtres de province errent, inadaptés à la recherche d’un public cultivé et international.

A company of wanderers tries to stage a Comedy. But nothing works. The theatre cannot be found. The actors don’t turn up. It is a variety show from the last century. A comedy of misunderstandings from two centuries ago or a story that is more than two thousand years old. In any case, the question is always the same: what is the truth? What is false? Genres get confused: comedy or spy story? Sentimental drama or musical? Farce or tragedy? Provincial theatres wander, inadequate in their search for a cultured and international audience.
